Imran slams deseating politics

KASUR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan criticised the PML-N on Wednesday for doing politics on the issue of deseating his party’s MNAs over their absence from the assembly during the Islamabad sit-in.

Addressing a public gathering at Wan Adhan near Pattoki, he criticised National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq’s phone call to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s chief on the issue and said: “Altaf Hussain is the top traitor and terrorist of Pakistan. It is better for the PTI to stay away from the assembly rather than approaching him.”

Mr Khan also said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should take decisions himself and avoid ‘using’ Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

PML-Q’s former MNA Talib Hussan Nakai, former MPA Rao Shahid Qayum and Khalid Mumtaz Bhatti joined the PTI on the occasion.

Imran Khan said PTI had accepted the verdict of the poll inquiry commission but the shortcomings pointed out by it ought to be removed for fair elections in future.

He said the returning officers who committed irregularities during the 2013 elections must be brought to book.

Mr Khan also claimed that PML-N could not win elections without involving police.

He said the government had pushed farmers to the wall and the PTI would launch a movement for their rights.

The venue of the PTI’s public meeting was the outhouse of PML-Q MPA from PP-183 Sardar Muhammad Asif Nakai but he did not attend it. Asif Nakai is the son of former chief minister of Punjab Arif Nakai and cousin of Talib Nakai. He also remained federal minister for housing during retired Gen Pervez Musharraf’s rule. According to sources, he may also join the PTI.

However, local PTI leaders were not seen on the stage on Wednesday.
