‘Action against illegal slums continuing’

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Friday informed the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that it had started an operation against illegal slums established on the greenbelts of Sector I-10 and H-10/1 and would clear other areas as per plan.

On June 26, the CDA had submitted a four-phase plan to the IHC for the removal of illegal slums.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddique directed the CDA to remove the katchi abadi from I-11 where a new sector could not be developed due to the presence of the illegal settlers for over three decades.

Raja Adnan, the counsel for the CDA, told the court that the authority was removing the illegal slums in the federal capital in four phases as mentioned in the plan already submitted to the court.

In the phase-I, the civic agency will remove slums in the greenbelts of 1-10, H-10, H-11, I-12, Bari Imam katchi abadi, Mohalla Dari Bagh, Maskeen Colony and Shopper Colony in G-7.

Phase-II included katchi abadis in Chak Shahzad, Dhoke Pattan, Khanna Pull Road, New Shakrial and Shams Colony.

Phase-III is about the slums of Bheka Syedan, Sumbol Karok, G-12, F-12, and some parts of E-12.

In Phase-IV, the operation would be launched against katchi abadis in sector G-7/1, G-7/2, G-7/3-2, F-6/2 and F-7/4.
