Website review: It’s time for the news!

THERE is just so much happening around the world every day, whether it is the politics, showbiz, science, space, or anything else, we are sometimes crammed with news, updates and news. However, children don’t always watch or read the news as some of it might not be appropriate for their age. This is where the website Here There and Everywhere comes.

Here There Everywhere (HTE) is a news website/blog designed for elementary and older school-aged children. Its purpose is to show kids how they are connected to their world and introduce them to the people and events shaping it. HTE can be read with or without an elder and there is just nothing to worry about the content.

The news on the website is presented in a storytelling style, only the stories are all true and it pretty much all just happened. You’ll see categories listed in the right hand pane such as people, sports, science, space politics, world, wow, health and many more while main menu at the top.

The website creator Claudia David Heitler is a former producer at NBC Network News’ Today show and she encourages questions and comments from parents as well as children.

So kids remember knowing what’s in the news is a way to be connected to our community, nation and world; it can give us important information about something we may need to know and teaches us the importance of staying curious and asking questions.
