Ban on viral slogan sought

LAHORE: A writ petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court seeking a ban on the slogan “Go Nawaz Go”.

Petitioner Raja Zeeshan, a lawyer, stated the slogan would cause anarchy in the country. He said there could be no unbridled ‘freedom of expression’.

He also questioned the ‘right’ of citizens and workers of political parties to chant “Go Nawaz Go” in public gatherings arranged by the ruling PML-N.

He sought to make Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), prime minister, his daughter, heads of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek and interior minister party to the petition.

The petitioner also sought an ECP order putting a ban on the impugned slogan and a code of conduct for all political parties and their workers. The petitioner claimed that he did not belong to any political party.
