Website review: Math Playground

MATH is a tricky subject; for some it is fun while for others it is a nightmare and this is where the website Math Playground comes in handy. It can change your nightmare into a wonderful dream and then into a reality where you can literally play and start loving the subject.

True to its name, Math Playground is a learning site filled with colourful animated math games, logic puzzles, step-by-step instructional videos and variety of problem-solving activities.

It is more fun and learning-based then you can imagine. You don’t need to register or log in, just open the page and start your brain workout.

This colourful website has a huge collection of math games that focus on a wide variety of topics such as arithmetic, algebraic reasoning, geometry, ratio and percentages, word problem, fractions and decimals, all disguised as fun games. So you learn maths in the easiest and truly amazing ways without you even knowing you are learning it.

Many of the games on Math Playground are not only fun, but addictive too. For example, there are math-focused versions of Pac-Man and Tetris that help kids explore addition and numbers. Other games require brain-bending logic, like the gravity-based “Sugar, sugar.”

The website is for kids of all ages. The games are created by a math teacher and educational consultant, while games that require specific and complex skills and tutorial videos are made by expert math students.

The site requires latest Flash Player and Java software, if you don’t have these then you might miss out on the functionality.

What I dislike on the Math Playground are the ads that appear on every page and it is hard to tell them apart from the site’s content. So just bear with it if you want to polish your math skills. Give your brain a workout on www.mathplayground.com
