NA summons Jamshed Dasti on Monday

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Secretariat has served notice to Member of National Assembly (MNA) Jamshed Dasti to present evidence regarding allegations he has leveled against Parliamentarians of attending drinking and dancing parties at parliamentary lodges.

The National Assembly Secretariat on the directives of the Speaker Ayaz Sadiq asked Dasti, an independent MNA from Muzaffargargh, to appear before the speaker on Monday 3rd March.

"I have received a notice and will appear before the speaker," Dasti told Dawn.com on the phone from Muzaffargarh.

Dasti said he has collected secret videos of dance parties in the lodges in which the participants are parliamentarians.

He also said that empty bottles of liquor would also be presented before the speaker.

Dasti has said he was fed up with such activities, which is why he has decided to take up the matter on the floor of the National Assembly.

"This is the core issue and more important than all other issues," he said when asked if by raising this issue he has distracted the parliament's attention from other important issues.

He strongly refuted the impression that he did this at the behest of intelligence agencies to defame parliamentarians.

Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq and Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan both denied charges made by Dasti.

The speaker went on to say that if Dasti's allegation's proved wrong, the entire parliament would decide punishment against him.
