LAHORE The head of Jamaat-ud-Dawa, accused of being a front for militants blamed for the Mumbai attacks, says it will fight the UNs decision to declare it a terrorist organisation.

A UN Security Council panel said on Wednesday that Islamic charity Jamaat-ud-Dawa is a front for Lashkar-e-Taiba, the group India says trained and steered the Mumbai gunmen.

Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Mohammed Saeed told reporters in Lahore on Thursday that the move was an attempt to target religious groups.

Saeed said his group would fight the decision in Pakistani and international courts. He challenged Indian and US officials to produce evidence against it.He said they would explain their point of view to UNSC through a letter and claimed that they had nothing to do with Mumbai attacks.

We are not prepared to accept this decision, which was taken in haste. We do not accept terrorism, killing innocent people, or carrying out suicide attacks. This has always been our stand, Saeed said.
