MIRAMSHAH, Sept 25 The death toll from Thursday night's US drone attack in North Waziristan has risen to 12. Five people were injured.Officials said on Friday that four missiles had been fired at a house in Dandy Derpakhel near Miramshah, used by Afghan national Abdul Manan Haqqani as a hideout. The 12 militants who died were Afghans and Arabs.

Supporters of Abdul Manan, a key commander of Taliban leader Jalaluddin Haqqani, were in the house. Manan was killed in Afghanistan last year.

However, residents rejected the official claim and said that local people who were sleeping outside the house were killed in the attack.

The injured people were taken to a hospital in Miramshah and later shifted to an unspecified place.

Agencies add Security officials initially said three people had been killed, but an intelligence agency official said on Friday that 12 Afghan militants were killed.Investigators are trying to identify the people killed in the attack.

“We are collecting information about the identity of all those killed in the attack,” a senior security official in the area said.
