 ISLAMABAD Young Rising Stars chalked up an emphatic 2-0 victory over WAPDA to lift the trophy of the 6th National Women Football Championship at Jinnah Stadium on Thursday.

 

Malika Noor and Asma Yaseen struck against WAPDA in each half to clinch the final of the championship for YRS. Sports Sciences of Lahore finished third in the championship after beating Islamabad 5-4 in a penalty shootout.

 

Malika Noor put YRS into lead in the 20th minute while Asma doubled the margin in the 55th minute.

 

On the occasion Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat, President of the Pakistan Football Federation, Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi the PFF Honorary Secretary and Rubina Irfan, the chairperson of the women's wing of PFF, presented the trophies to the winning teams.

 

Hajra Khan of Karachi's Diya Club got the Misha Dawood trophy as the Best Player of the championship.

 

Saeeda Mapara and Malika Noor, both of YRS, got the best goal-keeper and top scorer awards.

 

The best referee's trophy went to Shafqat Habib and assistant referee trophy was awarded to Touqir. - APP
