The 17,000 islands that make up Indonesia are home to around 237 million people. It is the worlds fourth most populous country, and has the largest Musilm population in the world. The nations capital city is Jakarta. Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia) is the official national language of Indonesia. It is based on a version of Classical Malay of the Riau-Johor Sultanate. It was first declared the official language with the declaration of Indonesian independence in 1945.
