KARACHI The toll of rain-related deaths rose to 41 as 13 more bodies were found in different parts of the city on Monday, according to the rescue workers of the Edhi and Chhipa ambulances services.

A five-year-old girl was killed and her 15-year-old sister injured near their house when one of the eaves of a neighbouring house collapsed at Railway Colony near Kala Pull. The deceased was identified as Neha, daughter of Wilson, and the injured as Yasmin.

They said that most of the victims, who also included two other children, were believed to have drowned either on Sunday or Saturday while bathing in the sea, the Lyari River and rainwater drains across the city.

The volunteers said that the body of a five-year-old boy was fished out near the Shipyard.

The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi where the victim was identified as Nabi Umer, son of Sher Bahadur, a resident of Laasi Goth, Gadap.

They said that the body of a two-year-old boy was found under the Native Jetty bridge in the remit of the Jackson police station. His body was shifted to the Edhi morgue for want of identification.

They said that the body of an unidentified man was found on the bank of the Lyari River near Lasbela Bridge. The victim was stated to be in his late 20s and his body was kept at the Edhi morgue for want of identification.

The body of a 36-year-old man, who was believed to have drowned on Sunday in a stormwater drain in Qasba Colony in the remit of the Pirabad police station, was fished out by the volunteers. Identified as Sarbuland Khan, son of Aqalmand Khan, the victim was a resident of Baloch Colony.

The body of a 30-year-old man, identified as Yashwah, was found near the stormwater drain in Liaquatabad, and the body of an unidentified man was found in a rainwater drain in Mehmoodabad.

The rescue workers said that the body of Umerzada, son of Sher Khan, who drowned at Sands Pit on Sunday, was fished out on Monday morning. The victim, resident of Mujahid Colony, Nazimabad, hailed from Swat.

The bodies of two unidentified young men were found near hut No 15 at Hawkesbay. The bodies were first shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi, and later kept at the Edhi morgue for want of identification.

A 32-year-old man was found dead near the bank of the Lyari River. The victim, identified as Khan Afsar, a resident of Liaquatabad, was believed to have drowned in the river on Sunday.

The body of a young man in his mid-20s was found in a rainwater drain near Gul Bai at Shershah.

A six-year-old boy was electrocuted on the rooftop of his house in Shah Wali Ullah Nagar, a shantytown in Orangi Town. The victim was identified as Ismail.
