KARACHI, Jan 29: The placement lists of candidates for admission to the Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS) programme in government colleges were released on Wednesday.

Based on the weightage of matriculation and intermediate examinations and aptitude test results, 227 candidates were selected for admission to six colleges, said a member of the BCS placement committee. The last date for admission is Feb 1.

The students have to deposit an amount of Rs4,425, inclusive of one semester fee at the rate of Rs500 per month, in their colleges at the time of admissions. If a candidate is unable to deposit the amount lump sum, he can contact his college principal for rescheduling of the fee payments.

The names of colleges with the percentage of marks at which admission was started and closed are: DJ Science College 69.95 and 57.72; Govt Degree College, Stadium Road, 68.33 and 53.35;

National College 64.36 and 52.61; Govt Commerce College of Commerce and Economics 65.16 and 51.22; Sir Syed Girls’ College 69.97 and 50.84; while at the Khurshid Girls’ College the applicants with a weightage between 56.22 and 45.10 per cent were enlisted.

The lists could also be seen on the Sindh education department’s website (www.sindhedu.gov.pk). In all, 393 candidates had applied for admission, out of whom 276 appeared in the aptitude test.

The lists for the DJ Science College, Govt College of Commerce and Economics and the Govt Degree College comprised names of both boy and girl candidates, while the National College would give admission to boys and Sir Syed Girls College and Khurshid College to girl students only.
