KARACHI, March 20: While conceding that the prime accused in the Shahzeb murder case had left the country ‘through deceitful means’, the Federal Investigation Agency did not name any official of its immigration department in a final charge-sheet submitted in court on Wednesday in a case pertaining to the escape of Shahrukh Jatoi to Dubai.

The investigation officer, Saeed Ahmed Memon of the FIA’s anti-human trafficking circle, submitted the charge-sheet under Section 173 of the criminal procedure code in the court of a judicial magistrate (Malir).

The charge-sheet said that Shahrukh in connivance with Sohail Ahmed, Muhammad Omer Dochki and Abubakar Dochki, employee and directors of a travel agency, managed to get an air ticket in the name of Syed Shahrukh in violation of procedure under wrongful/different particulars without bringing on record the necessary documents related to his travel to hide his identity.

Moreover, bogus information was made in the global distribution system reservations showing booking for Dubai-Karachi on Jan 20 while in fact Shahrukh was present in Karachi on Dec 26 when the said reservation was made and then Shahrukh changed his booking for Emirates Airlines, it added.

Shahrukh in connivance with Mahmood Sultan, Wasi Akhtar, Mohammad Khurram, Nawab Ali Jatoi, Mohammad Taha Hussain and Syed Salman Shah fraudulently acquired a boarding pass in the name of Syed Shahrukh by mentioning the passport number of one Muhammad Ali with a motive to hide his identity.

He travelled with his brother Nawab Ali Jatoi and Mohammad Khurram, one of the directors of Sikandar Jatoi’s firms. Two PIA officials Mahmood Sultan and Wasi Akhtar, said to be protocol officials of the Bilawal House, got immigration clearance of Nawab and Khurram by presenting their passports at the immigration counters without their physical appearance, as they told the immigration staff that they were guests of the Bilawal House. In order to hide the travelling of Shahrukh, they did not obtain his immigration clearance and got him passed through a gate meant for staff only under the cover of protocol, it added.

It further stated that the call data of Wasi, Khurram and Mahmood also showed that they were in contact with each other on the night of Dec 26 and 27, 2012. Mahmood, a baggage attendant, and Wasi, a passenger service assistant, both employees of the PIA, were performing their duties as protocol officers of the Bilawal House on the said night, it added.

Muhammad Taha Hussain, a traffic assistant/check-in agent of the Gerry Dnata (providing ground handling services on behalf of Emirates Airlines at airports) and Syed Salman Shah, supervisor of the Gerry Dnata, with criminal intention issued a boarding card to Shahrukh under wrongful particulars, it added.

Shahrukh Jatoi, Taha Hussain and Sohail Ahmed were shown in custody in the final report and Wasi Akhtar, Omer Dochki, Abubakar Dochki, and Salman Shah were placed in the column of the accused on bail.

The IO has named Nawab Ali Jatoi, brother of Shahrukh, Mohammad Khurram, Mehmood Sultan and Wasi Akhtar as absconding accused in the final charge-sheet.

The record of the Atchison College Lahore showed that the date of birth of Shahrukh was Nov 27, 1993 while in one of the passports his date of birth was mentioned as Nov 27, 1995, which was a miss declaration, it concluded.

The interim charge-sheet was submitted on Feb 13.
