BRUSSELS: US Secretary of State John Kerry has offered to host a meeting between Afghan President Hamid Karzai and senior Pakistani officials in Brussels on Wednesday, a senior US State Department official said on Monday.
“The meeting is part of an ongoing trilateral dialogue that has been under way throughout this administration,” the official said.
The meeting would include Karzai and Afghan defence minister Bismillah Khan Mohammadi as well as Pakistan's army chief General Ashfaq Kayani and foreign secretary Jalil Jilani.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs adds; As part of the high level consultations between Pakistan, Afghanistan and the US, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Chief of Army Staff and Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani will be proceeding to Brussels for the Trilateral Core Group Meeting with Mr Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and Mr John Kerry, US Secretary of State, on 23-24 April 2013.
During the meeting, matters relating to peace and stability and national reconciliation in Afghanistan will be discussed.
