MANSEHRA, Feb 22: The district education department, Mansehra, has promoted 737 male and female teachers to basic pay scale 16 and promotion orders of over 3,000 primary teachers are expected within a couple of days.

District education officer Umer Khan Kundi said this at a press conference at his office here on Friday. He said that the male teachers getting promotion included 270 science teachers, 77 drawing masters, 67 physical education teachers, 45 Arabic teachers and 78 theology teachers.

Mr Kundi said that the female teachers promoted to grade-16 included 99 science teachers, 22 PET, 39 drawing masters, 23 Arabic teachers and 17 theology teachers.

He said that the provincial government had issued notification of these promotions. He said that promotion orders of about 2,000 male and 1,070 female primary teachers to BPS-14 and 15 were expected within a couple of days.

The DEO said that the promoted teachers would be posted on vacant posts in the district. He said that the government had accepted main demands of teachers and they should now work devotedly for imparting quality education to students.

Meanwhile, State Minister for Special Education and Training Shahjahan Yousuf inaugurated four projects completed at a cost of Rs202 million in Jargalli area here on Friday.

Speaking to local people on the occasion, he said that the government was taking steps for provision of basic amenities in far-flung areas of the district. The inaugurated projects include two kilometre Kulmun-Jargalli road, a middle school, basic health unit and a water supply scheme.

Mr Yousuf, who belongs to PML-Q, said that the middle school was destroyed in 2005 earthquake and the Erra had completed its construction work.

Former district nazim Sardar Mohammad Yousuf said on the occasion that he would continue to serve people of his area.
