GHALANAI, Feb 18: Every effort would be made to administer anti-polio drops to each child in Mohmand Agency as there was no ‘no-go’ area in the region, said Political Agent Dr Amber Ali Khan.

Addressing a meeting, held here on Monday in connection with the ongoing anti-polio drive, he said that the campaign was in full swing in the tribal region. “There is no ‘no-go’ area in Mohmand as writ of government has been restored in the entire tribal agency,” he claimed.

The political agent directed the health official to ensure immunisation of children against the crippling disease. “It is our main objective to administer vaccine to each and every child below the age of five years in Mohmand to protect them from poliovirus,” he said.

Later, talking to journalists, Dr Amber said that foolproof security was provided to polio teams in all those areas where the campaign was going on.

He said that transit teams were set up to vaccinate the children coming to or going from Mohmand Agency.

Speaking on the occasion, Agency Surgeon Dr Dawood Khan said that 87,801 children would be vaccinated in Mohmand Agency during the drive. He said that about 361 mobile, 39 fixed and eight transit teams were set up to carry out door-to- door campaign. He said that 92 supervisors were also appointed to make the campaign a success.

Dr Dawood urged the parents to extend full cooperation to health officials and polio teams during the ongoing campaign.

Meanwhile, security was beefed up in the agency headquarters, bazaars and government offices after attack on the office of Khyber Agency political agent in Peshawar.

All routes leading to Ghalanai were closed and movement of people was restricted in the residential colony of government officials.
