LIVING in urban regions of Pakistan, one doesn’t come across immaculately maintained resorts or lush green parks, where people can indulge in healthy sports or fun exercises, while enjoying the vast green pastures and exhilarating fresh air.

This appears to be one of the reasons why hundreds of people jump at the opportunity to participate in amateur sports tournaments. I recently came to know that such an event had been arranged at the Karsaz Naval Golf Club, Karachi.

Deriving excitement and fun through friendly competition is a great way to keep people active and induce a healthy lifestyle among the people. This 18-hole annual tournament seemed to be a success as there must have been over a 100 participants.

All proactive and socially-embedded enterprises should support exciting sports tournaments and healthy gaming events, to improve social harmony and nurture a participative spirit in the community. Golf is a refreshing sport which takes us closer to the serenity of nature, while revitalising minds and hearts.
