ISLAMABAD: Senators from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Balochistan National Party-Awami (BNP-A) walked out of the Senate on Wednesday against the imposition of governor rule in Balochistan and law and order situation in other parts of the country.

Speaking on a point of order, JUI-F Chief Whip Abdul Ghafoor Haidri said religious scholars and common people were being killed in Quetta, Karachi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said the elected government in Balochistan had been removed following a bomb blast despite the fact that the law and order situation in other provinces was not much different.

Haidri said even after governor rule, six mutilated bodies had been recovered in Kalat, adding some forces had been striving to get the elections delayed.

He stressed all political forces to forge unity to resist any unconstitutional move as any disagreement in this regard would encourage undemocratic forces to intrude.

In response, Hasil Bizenjo said the sacked provincial government had executed no mega development project in Balochistan creating a sense of deprivation among the people.

He said efforts were being made to appoint a leader of the opposition of mutual consent in the provincial assembly to form a caretaker government.

Dawood Achakzai of Awami National Party said the people have started observing a hunger strike against governor rule in Balochistan.

He suggested that an in-house change should be brought there to keep the ball of democracy rolling.

Kalsoom Perveen of BNP-A, said a decision to impose governor rule should have been taken earlier and that a democratic government should not have been removed at the time when the assembly was going to complete its term.

She said it would take sometime to refine the political system of the province and should have continued without any interruption.

Later, PML-N's Mushahidullah said that opposition's sit-in before the Parliament House was symbolic and in continuation of three sit-ins already held in Karachi for strengthening of the Election Commission.

He said the party had not given a public call for a sit-in, adding that credit goes to the PML-N for letting the PPP government continue its term.
