ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Wednesday said the government's top most priority was to ensure the safety and security of citizens' lives and properties, DawnNews reported.

Speaking to media representatives during a passing out parade of the police, the premier said terrorism was affecting all segments of society.

He added that the government was employing all resources available in order to control the problem of militancy and terrorism in the country.

Prime Minister Ashraf added that Pakistan wanted peace with India but Kashmir remained a bone of contention between the two states.

The prime minister said ties between the two nations could not progress without resolving the Kashmir issue.

Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Ashraf had reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to stand by its Kashmiri brethren and find a just and peaceful solution to the longstanding dispute.
