KARACHI: Pakistan’s IBSF world snooker champion Mohammad Asif’s dream run in the Sangsom Mukdahan Cup, a Thai ranking tournament, came to a halt when he suffered 1-4 defeat at the hands of Thailand’s cueist Pisit Jansri in the semi-final on Saturday.

According to results made available here, the Thai cueist was home 64-29, 85-34, 131-0, 51-57, 69-27 against the reigning world champion to enter the final.

Asif, who was specially invited by the hosts to compete in the event, had beaten two-time former Asian champion Praprut Chaithanasakun 4-3 in the quarters the other day.

Results: Semi-final: Pisit Jansri (Thailand) bt Mohammad Asif (Pakistan) 4-1 (64-29, 85-34, 131-0, 51-57, 69-27).
