PESHAWAR: An explosion took place near an office of the Awami National Party (ANP) in northwestern Pakistan's Charsadda region on Wednesday, DawnNews reported.

No casualties were reported in the blast.

Wednesday’s explosion comes nearly a month after the killing of ANP leader Bashir Ahmed Bilour in a suicide bomb explosion in Peshawar.

The attack that killed Bilour was claimed by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The ANP, which has been a continual target of militant groups operating in northwest Pakistam, has also recently stepped up efforts to convene an all parties’ conference for developing a consensus on counter militancy before the general elections in the country.

Militants linked to Al Qaeda and the Pakistani Taliban have waged a campaign of attacks across Pakistan, mainly in the northwest, bordering Afghanistan, in retaliation for government offensives against insurgent strongholds.
