SUKKUR, Jan 20: At least 50 labourers working under a private company fainted in Kashmore after eating poisonous meal on Sunday.

According to reports, the affected labourers were working to upgrade 747 megawatt power supply in Guddu Power House of Kashmore.

Some of the affected people were identified as security guard Khan Muhammad Umrani, Ashraf Malik, Tarique Arain, Sanaullah Chandio, Ali Gul Mahar and Sarfaraz Pitafi. They were shifted to the taluka hospital Kashmore after providing them initial medical treatment at the hospital of Guddu Power Station.

Officials of the company told Kashmore-based reporters that the labourers had been served cooked vegetables which had not been washed properly before cooking and effects of pesticides sprayed on crop might have infected the vegetable.

Ten labourers whose condition was serious were later shifted to Rahimyarkhan hospital.
