KARACHI: Two witnesses on Wednesday identified three suspects — Siraj Talpur, Sajjad Talpur, a brother of Siraj, and Murtaza Lashari —  at a local court in Karachi in the Shahzeb Khan murder case, DawnNews reported.

The witnesses stated that Siraj, a key suspect in the case, had fired a shot at Shahzeb, DawnNews quoted the investigation officer as saying.

The witnesses, in their statements which were recorded in court today, said that Siraj had fired at Shahzeb and the latter, who was in his car at the time, was injured as a result.

At that point, Sajjad had urged Siraj to fire more shots targetting Shahzeb who was alive at the time, the witnesses said, adding that Siraj began to fire again.

The witnesses moreover stated that Lashari had also urged Siraj to fire more shots at the victim.

Twenty-year-old Shahzeb was gunned down on Dec 25, 2012 near his house in Karachi’s Defence Housing Society and Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry had taken a suo motu notice in this case.

Shahzeb, son of a DSP, was murdered reportedly after he had an altercation with suspect Siraj, whose servant had allegedly given verbal threats to the victim’s sister.

Shahrukh Jatoi, also a key suspect in the murder case, is said to have fled to the UAE within hours of the incident. Whereas, Siraj and three other suspects in the case were arrested last week during raids in different towns in Sindh.
