LAHORE, Jan 6: Scores of political leaders expressed on Sunday their grief over the death of former Jamaat-i-Islami ameer Qazi Husain Ahmad.

Pakistan People's Party Punjab President Manzoor Wattoo, Punjab General-Secretary Tanvir Ashraf Kaira and Deputy Information Secretary Iqbal Sialvi said in a statement the late Qazi was a great leader and prayed to Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and give patience to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Chief Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also expressed their sorrow over the death of Qazi Husain Ahmad. They also telephoned to the deceased’s son and expressed their condolence calling the death of Qazi an unforgettable and irreparable loss to the country.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chief Imran Khan also gave a call to the late Ahmad’s family and prayed for the departed soul.

Tehreek-i-Minhajul Quran Patron-in-Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri called the family and condoled over Qazi’s death. In a statement, he called Qazi Husain Ahmed a sober political and religious leader and said the nation would always remember his services for the country.

Punjab Governor Makhdoom Syed Ahmad Mahmood also expressed his sorrow and grief over the demise of the former Jamaat-i-Islami ameer. In a condolence message to the bereaved family, he said Mr Ahmed was a great leader and his demise was an irreparable loss to his family as well as the country.Jamaatud Dawa Chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed called Qazi Husain’s death a loss for the Muslims across the world. In a statement, he said the nation would never forget the role of the former JI ameer in uniting the Muslims as well as the religious forces on a platform of Milli Yakjehti Council.

Qazi’s successor Syed Munawar Hasan declared his death a loss for the Jamaat.

A funeral prayer in-absentia was also offered at Mansoora.
