Tahirul Qadri does not have US support: Hoagland

ISLAMABAD: The United States’ envoy to Pakistan, Richard Hoagland, on Saturday dismissed the impression that the US was supporting Tehrik-i-Minhajul Quran chief Tahirul Qadri.

Speaking to media representatives in Islamabad after attending a function, Richard Hoagland said that his country does not support any political party or individual, including Tahirul Qadri, reported APP.

Hoagland said that the US was an advocate of democracy and transparent election in the world.

Moreover, the US envoy said that any decision regarding military operation in North Waziristan would be taken by Pakistan itself.

He also said that terrorism was a mutual concern shared by Pakistan and the US. Therefore, both countries should cooperate in efforts to eradicate terrorism.

Hoagland also condemned the killing of the Awami National Party (ANP) leader and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa senior minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour.

Earlier, Ambassador Hoagland while delivering the keynote address at the International Business Plan Competition finals, organised by The Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE), reaffirmed the US government's commitment to foster entrepreneurship and supporting individual entrepreneurs throughout Pakistan.

Why the US has to intervene and make political statements like these? US staff should be in strict survellience as they do with Pakistani Staff herem and there should be no political interference from US Embassy....

Imagine a scenario: US is helping Dr Qadri or any other Pakistani leader or party, would US envoy or for that matter any US official would talk to press and say, yes we are helping so and so or such and such party? Answer is clearly No. So it requires some thinking on our part to understanding whats going on in the country. As a matter of fact, the present government has not been able to manage the country effectively as were the expectations. But it is necessary that elections are held on time and every time on time that would filter out non performers or under-performers.

Pakistanis in Pakistan and abroad should start thinking with straight head dealing with each other , If today killing of innocents Pakistani taking place in Pakistan it has nothing to do USA. Since 1949 Pakistan depending on American Aid and still think Pakistanis should think about dealing with USA. Across the Border India do not take any money and they re not worry about America , Pakistanis wake up and smell the coffee. Thanks to Musharaf who joined USA war on terrorism otherwise Pakistan would had been another battleground for America.

And one is supposed to believe the US because they have never lied before nor interfered in Pakistan political situation before! What nonsense. Tahir ul Qadri's campaign has US written all over it and this time US will not succeed because Pakistani public is determined for democracy to continue and change to come through elections and not through nefarious designs. If US wants Pakistan's help in exiting from Afghanistan, it better respect Pakistan and not interfere its internal affairs or their retreat from Afghanistan can be made very expensive and painful by not allowing them Pakistan's land and air routes.

Just like a lot of Pakistanis, Tahir-ul-Qadri sees the same old rich elite, who have developed a monopoly over Pakistan's politics, staying in power in one form or another. And so these same people see him as a threat and will take whatever measures possible to discredit him or try to sell him to the people of Pakistan as America's agent.

Action speaks louder then words. Any comment from the US State department on the state of affairs in Pakistan for the last five years, the rampant corruption from top to bottom and reclaiming once again the title of one of the most corrupt nations in the world, ridden with foreign debts has no clue how to pay for it but no, to them its all OK. To them its progress and they wanna keep it that way. On the contrary when the debts were being paid and the things were relatively better and improving socially and economically, the US state department would not lose a single opportunity to criticize for the littlest thing that would go wrong in Pakistan. Remember Mukhtara mai and their personal interest in that drama? I guess more scattered and confused the Pakistani people become more the US will silently endorse it and will do every thing possible to keep it that way and of course they are not go public with their real intentions, are you kidding! but again actions speak louder then words.

I hate to say it, but Pakistan has also created disorder in the region by supporting dangerous and unaccaptable fringe groups as a policy, and was doing so many years prior to September 11th, damaging the very fabric, cohesiveness, and reputation of this once great country . We must look inward and put our house in order first (and quickly) before we deal with external forces.
