GHALANAI, Jan 3: A jirga of Haleemzai tribe in Mohmand Agency decided here on Thursday to strengthen the local peace committees to protect government properties in the area.

The jirga, held at the hujra of local peace committee leader Malik Mohammad Ali Haleemzai at Sangar village, extended cooperation to security forces and political administration in maintenance of peace in the tribal region.

A large number of tribal elders from different areas of Haleemzai tehsil attended the jirga. Addressing the jirga, Malik Mohammad Ali, Malik Haji Amir Nawaz Khan, Malik Moambar, Malik Haji Jan, Mailk Aurangzeb, Malik Ajmal, Malik Dawood, Malik Ilyas Khan, Haji Rangeen Khan, Malik Kabal Said and Malik Dauran Khan said that those people, who were depriving their children of education and health facilities and destroying tribal customs, were their enemies.

They said that tribesmen would not provide shelter to those anti-state elements. Anyone found guilty of violating the jirga’s decision would be taken to task, they warned. The tribal elders said that they would strengthen local peace committees and continue their struggle for maintenance of peace.
