ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court challenging the court’s decision that disqualified him from holding a seat in the parliament and declared him ineligible, DawnNews reported.

According to sources, the court had received Gilani’s review petition challenging his disqualification through postal mail on Tuesday.

The office of the Supreme Court’s registrar raised objections to the petition, saying it was not filed during the stipulated time period and that it had been filed by Gilani himself as opposed to his counsel. The security challan was not attached with the petition either, said one of the objections raised by the registrar’s office.

Sources said the petition had been forwarded to Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry who would decide whether or not to admit it for hearing.
