RAWALPINDI: Police officers of Islamabad-Rawalpindi met the Afghan ambassador on Thursday to persuade him to give them access to Afghanistan to arrest a ‘most wanted’ fugitive, Roohullah.

According to official sources, the ambassador was informed that the man had escaped from a hospital in July and was seen in Afghanistan sheltered by Mangal Bagh’s militant group.

Police arranged the meeting with the Afghan ambassador after getting Foreign Office’s approval.

The sources said police had applied for Afghan visa in the last week of September, but the embassy neither declined nor issued the visa.

The ambassador was informed about the gravity of the situation and told that it was necessary to arrest the fugitive because he was involved in the murder of former attorney general and judge of the Peshawar High Court, Sardar Mohammad Khan.

The police officers of Islamabad-Rawalpindi, led by IGP Banni Amin Khan, SSP (operations) Yaseen Faooq and Israr Ahmed Abbasi held talks with the Afghan ambassador for half an hour.
