KARACHI, Dec 19: Pakistan’s top chess player International Master Mahmood Lodhi would be featuring in three international events being held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and India.

"My first assignment will be to take part in the $30,000 Al-Ain International Chess Classic starting from Dec 22,” the 13-time national champion said on Wednesday.

Al-Ain Chess Classic, with its unique format of a Swiss tournament, will be a 9-round combined Swiss Al Ain System.

Top Grand Masters, International Masters, FIDE Masters from Central Asian Republics, Iran, India, Egypt, Jordan, Algeria, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, hosts UAE and other countries will be taking part.

Lodhi will then figure in the 9th Perwashnath International Chess Tour, to be staged at New Delhi from Jan 5-15.

Later, he will proceed to Chennai to participate in another international event which will be held there from Jan 17 to 27.—APP
