KARACHI, Dec 14: The Sindh High Court on Friday directed the police to make efforts for the recovery of a missing dispenser of the Combined Military Hospital, Chhor cantonment.

A division bench headed by Chief Justice Mushir Alam was seized with the constitutional petition of Rabia Bibi seeking recovery and production of her son, Mohammed Amin.

She impleaded the army chief, chief of Inter-Services Intelligence, commanding officer of the CMH, Chhor and Col Ahsan Qureshi, a former CO, as respondents.

The petitioner submitted that her son was appointed dispenser in the Army Medical Corps in 1994.

She said later Amin was posted at the CMH, Chhor, where he was picked up by the army authorities on June 2, 2006.

The woman stated that she approached the army and police authorities who feigned ignorance about the whereabouts of her son.

She said that the very next day of his disappearance he was declared a deserter by the army authorities, who sanctioned gratuity and family pension to family of Amin.

She said that the minor daughter of her son also died during his disappearance.

On Friday, a brother of the missing man appeared to inform the court that he had received a call on his mobile phone six months ago and the caller told him that his brother was well, but still being held for unknown reasons. He said that the caller’s number did not appear when he received the call.

The bench directed the missing man’s brother to inform the police as and when any such call was received by him.

The hearing was adjourned to a date to be later fixed by the court’s office.
