KARACHI, Dec 9: Around 39 suspects were detained by the Rangers in separate raids in parts of the city on Sunday morning.

Arms and ammunition were also seized during the raids, said a Rangers spokesman. Rangers personnel rounded up 24 suspects in targeted operations in Surjani and Ghass Mandi, and seized arms and ammunition.The spokesman said that an arms supplier affiliated with a political party was also detained.

He said 19 weapons of different calibre, including SMG, MP-5 rifles and pistols, and a large cache of ammunition, including armour-piercing bullets, satellite phones, daggers, telescopes, binoculars and laser range finder were seized.

The Rangers also conducted a similar operation in Bilal Colony, Korangi, and detained 15 suspects, including four hardened criminals, and seized over 40 weapons, the spokesman said.
