HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that the election manifesto of the Pakistan Peoples Party will be unveiled at a public meeting on December 27 at Garhi Khuda Bux, Larkana. He said it would be held to mark the death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto.

“The PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will unveil the manifesto at his first ever public address to a large public meeting at Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto,” the chief minister told a press conference at Hyderabad Press Club on Sunday.

According to him, the party's leaders and workers from all parts of the country and even people from the United States will attend the meeting in Larkana.

“It will be a time to recall the political struggle and sacrifices of Shaheed Benazir and also to remember what vision for democracy, peace and prosperity she gave to the nation,” the chief minister said adding that the occasion would be a momentous event in the party's history.

He said that Bilawal will address the public meeting in Sindhi and Urdu.

Speaking about the upcoming elections, the chief minister said that the government would ensure free, fair and transparent elections and in that regard it had already strengthened the concerned institutions.

When asked to give the government's position on the Supreme Court's order for delimitation and voter verfication in Karachi, Qaim Ali Shah said that anyone who had objection on the order could file a review petition in the court.

“We say that the Musharraf regime altered the electoral boundaries in a wrong way across Sindh,” he said.

Responding to a question about the ECP's ability to complete the two processes ordered by the court, the chief minister said the Supreme Court and the ECP could give a proper answer for that question.

However, he emphasised that the PPP government would in now way allow postponement of the elections because President Zardari would terminate the assemblies on completion of their constitutional period and fresh elections will be called.
