SUKKUR, Dec 6: Vice president of the Sindh chapter of the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional and former provincial minister Mir Naseer Khan Khoso has said that the Kalabagh dam cannot be built at any cost.
Speaking to reporters in Jacobabad on Thursday, he said that if any one forcibly tried to construct it, there would be a strong resistance to it in Sindh.
He said Sindh was an agriculture-based province which had been facing shortage of irrigation water and the Kalabagh dam would adversely affect the agriculture sector.
Describing the Sindh People’s Local Government Act as a conspiracy to divide Sindh, he said it would be failed through the ongoing struggle by nationalists and other political parties.
Strong protests would be held against the disputed local body system under the leadership of Pir Pagara, he said.
He claimed that the PML-F public meeting scheduled for Dec 14 in Hyderabad would be a historic gathering to be attended by millions of people. It would be a referendum by the people of Sindh, he added.
He said people knew how the candidate of the PPP had won the by-election in the constituency of Naushahro Feroze. Total votes polled against the PPP candidate were more than those cast in his favour, which showed resentment of Sindhi people against the PPP, he added.
He demanded that the government repeal the dual local body system in Sindh, warning that if people came out under the leadership of Pir Pagara, it would be a difficult situation for the PPP.
He claimed that the PML-F would win the upcoming general elections in Sindh with a big margin because people of Sindh were looking towards Pir Pagara to lead them.
He said soon the flag of the PML-F would be hoisted on the Chief Minister’s House.
Criticising the PPP, he said corruption by PPP leaders was at a large scale and no work was being done without receiving bribes.
