LAHORE, Dec 4: A 48-year-old lawyer suffered gunshot wounds after unidentified motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire at his car near Fareedkot House Turn in Mozang on Tuesday.

Police declared the attack targeted, but specified no motive in preliminary interrogation. The vehicle was struck by not less than nine bullets.

Police inquiries showed that advocate Masood Abid Naqvi of Model Town Link Road was on his way to his office by a car when he was stopped by two gun-totting bikers who opened fire on his vehicle with a sophisticated weapon and fled the scene.

Naqvi, who suffered two bullet wounds to his shoulders, was shifted to Mayo Hospital where his condition was stated to be stable.

A police investigator told Dawn that Naqvi survived life attempt despite the fact that the suspects sprayed his car with bullets. He said one bullet pierced through the victim’s shoulder.

He further said Mr Naqvi was a corporate lawyer who was heading towards his office situated near Fareedkot House Turn at the time of the incident.

The investigator said the victim had not expressed suspicion and the motive for the shooting was still unclear.

He said a case had been registered against unidentified suspects on the victim’s complaint and investigation launched on multiple lines including sectarian aspect.
