KARACHI, Dec 1: The Sindh Softball Association (SSA) has named Asif Azeem as the organising secretary for the 10th National Women’s Softball Championship, scheduled to be held in Karachi from Dec 10-12.

In a meeting held on Friday under the chairmanship of Javed Hanif, the SSA named Zaheer Hussain as deputy organising secretary while Mrs N A Shirazi was named tournament director.

Asif, speaking on the occasion, emphasised the importance of holding sports events in the country to create harmony and inculcate competitive spirit among the people and added that the mascot designed for the softball event also sends the same message through its slogan ‘Peace Through Sports’.

He offered special thanks to Sindh Sports Minister Dr Mohammad Ali Shah, Additional Secy Sports and Youth Affairs Rafea Aleem and PSF chief Saleem Khan and secretary Haider Lehri for their tremendous cooperation in organising the event.

The meeting was attended by SSA President Jahangir Mughal, Vice Presidents Zeeshan Merchant and Farhan Essa, and other softball officials.—Agencies
