WASHINGTON, Nov 30: The US has conveyed to Pakistan its concern over Dr Shakil Afridi’s hunger strike, sources told Dawn on Friday.

US State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland told a briefing on Thursday the United States was concerned about Dr Afridi’s safety and will raise it at a series of forthcoming meetings with Pakistan.

Explaining the US position on the issue, the spokesperson said Washington believed Dr Afridi should never have been arrested.
