PESHAWAR, Nov 24: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Barrister Masood Kausar has appealed to the countrymen in general and the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata in particular to be alive to their surroundings, observe the highest level of tolerance and spirit of fraternity, brotherhood and respect the feelings of others.

In his message on the eve of Ashura, the governor further stated that this indeed was the spirit of Islamic brotherhood and the best way to pay tribute to the martyrs of Karbala.“Ashura is a very sagacious and sacred occasion of the Islamic history which carries a comprehensive and far-reaching message for Muslims towards their character and obligations to Almighty Allah and society,” stressed the governor.

He underscored that the selfless spirit of sacrifice, standing up for righteousness and truthfulness exemplified by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions was the best example of tolerance, patience, perseverance and courage in the face of ruthless adversity. He added, it also depicts the rare precedent of steadfastness and commitment against the evil forces of tyranny and cruelty.

The governor maintained that Imam Hussain (RA) preceded by the Prophet (PBUH) himself and the four exalted caliphs exemplified that struggle for truth and justice was a harsh road to follow. The slaughter of children bereft with thirst and hunger, but unwavering in their stance, encourages us to struggle for what is religiously and socially right, concluded Mr Kausar.—APP
