RAWALPINDI: The American diplomats here are mobilising their resources to frustrate any change in Pakistan’s foreign policy, it was learnt here today (Nov 24).
Several MNAs expressed resentment against, what they termed, pressure tactics employed by some American diplomats in the interim capital.
Alarmed by the rising crescendo of public indignation against the betrayal of Pakistan by its allies, these diplomats, it is stated, have approached a number of MNAs to soften up the stiff line taken on the arms to India issue by the Government of Pakistan.
In an attempt to draw a red herring to divert attention and create confusion, these diplomats are telling MNAs that the Pakistan Government’s anger has been aroused against the Americans not because of the arms aid to India, but because of the pressure brought to bear on them by America to “democratise the Constitution”.
These diplomats also claim credit for the lifting of the Martial Law.
They urged that the Government of Pakistan should take action against such “extra-diplomatic” activities of these diplomats.— Agencies
