ISLAMABAD, Nov 23: A senior PML-N leader has underlined need for close cooperation between Pakistan and China, particularly in economic fields which will greatly benefit the two countries.

PML-N Secretary General Iqbal Zafar Jhagra was talking to a seven-member delegation of Chinese parliamentarians led by Li Junr U., vice-president of the Chinese Communist Party.

The visiting delegation said that China had been implementing a policy of peaceful coexistence and common development under its strategy of ‘peaceful rise’.

The meeting highlighted improvement of relations between the two neighbours which guaranteed regional peace and prosperity.

Issues such as terrorism, cross-border criminal activities, drug trafficking, energy and environment also came under discussion. The meeting also highlighted the ways to resolve the issues.

“We must expand our relations in economic, political and socio-cultural domains and become strategic partners for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries,” Mr Jhagra said.

He called for frequent exchanges of delegations from all walks of life for better understanding and enhanced cooperation among the two countries.

“We believe in one China policy and continue to support China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he said.
