QUETTA, Nov 16: The Balochistan government has said it needs Rs2.7 billion for rehabilitation of flood-affected people and reconstruction of infrastructure in Jaffarabad, Nasirabad and Jhal Magsi districts.

The demand was made at a meeting on Friday with Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani in the chair.

Ministers Maulana Abdul Wasey, Begum Shama Parveen Magsi, Mir Nasir Jamali, Mir Salim Khosa, Sardar Aslam Bizenjo, Yunus Mullahzai, Babo Abdul Rahim Mengal, Sultan Tareen and Additional Chief Secretary Aslam Shakir attended the meeting.

The chief minister directed departments concerned to take measures to restore road infrastructure, agricultural and irrigation system in the three districts in order to rehabilitate the flood-affected people.

He asked them to form a committee, to be headed by the additional chief secretary and comprising secretaries of departments concerned, director-general of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority and the Nasirabad commissioner, to furnish its recommendations for rehabilitation of farmers of the flood-hit districts.

The meeting decided to approach the federal government for issuance of Watan Cards to the flood victims.

The meeting was informed that Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, NDMA, PDMA and the provincial departments played their role during rescue and relief opera-tion in the affected areas and the federal government also funded the relief operation.
