ISLAMABAD, Nov 15: The Islamabad High Court on Thursday directed the ministry of defence to produce a Syrian student, who went missing in 2010 and was later found in the custody of intelligence agencies, before the court on Monday.

Bilal Alsameer, a friend of the Syrian student Yoman Ismail, in his petition contended that Ismail was a student of LLM (Shariah and Law) at the International Islamic University Islamabad when he was picked up two years back.

An assistant director of the ministry of defence, flight lieutenant Irfan, informed Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the IHC on Thursday that the student had been kept at an internment centre in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa.

It may be noted that according to the Action in aid of civil power regulations 2011, the internment centres may be any compound, house, building, facility or any temporary structure that is notified by the governor to detain suspects.
