DACCA: The students of Dacca today (Nov 8) strongly protested against the massive Western arms supply to India and demanded its immediate stoppage in the interest of peace in Asia.

The students of the Dacca University and colleges, who observed a “protest day” today, held a meeting at the Dacca University premises.

[Participants] strongly condemned the Western pressure on Pakistan to freeze the Kashmir issue in the context of the present Sino-Indian conflict and urged the Government of Pakistan to withdraw from all military alliances, namely the SEATO and the CENTO, immediately and pursue an independent foreign policy.

The meeting urged the Government of Pakistan not to yield to the “imperialistic pressure” of the Western Powers and be firm in its stand.

It endorsed the stand of the Government of Pakistan towards the solution of the Kashmir problem.

The meeting declared in unequivocal terms that there could be no peace in Asia and no friendship with India unless the Kashmir issue was resolved in accordance with the resolution of the United Nations.

It also said that the massive arms supply to India would destroy the balance of power in Asia, throwing the continent in danger of a war.—Dacca Correspondent
