SWABI, Nov 6: Speakers at a convention here on Tuesday said that religious scholars should play their role in steering the country out of the prevalent crises and challenges.

The convention was organised by Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl in Tandkohi area. The speakers said that religious scholars had played a prominent role in creation of the country. Their role was critical whenever the country was faced with crises, they added.

They said that it was duty of religious scholar to unite masses, educate them about the present problems and inculcate a spirit in the nation to emerge victorious from the complicated scenario.

The speakers said that anti-Pakistan elements always ganged up to hatch conspiracies and weaken the country but their nefarious designs had always been foiled.

Addressing the convention, former provincial minister Maulana Fazl Ali said that there was great need of unity to foil the conspiracy hatched to weaken the country economically and destabilise it politically.

“In the past, we frustrated such designs and once again we brace for inflicting an ignominious defeat on the anti-Pakistan forces,” he said. He said that there might be some differences among them but they were united for protection of the country.

Maulana Ibrahim, a religious scholar, said that besides ulema politicians should also shun their differences and end the blame game to focus on strengthening of state institutions. Democracy couldn’t flourish in the country without strong institutions, he added.

Maulana Ibrahim said that it was not a time to point accusing finger at each other. Instead of indulging in blame game they should join hands, he said. He added that leadership of the country should study the complicated situation and come out with a result-oriented solution.

Maulana Hussain Ahmad spoke about the role of ulema and their responsibilities in the prevailing situation. He urged ulema and politicians to join hands and make joint efforts for progress and prosperity of the country.
