ISLAMABAD: The Cabinet division on Monday rejected and returned back the summary, which was prepared to be sent to the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) by the petroleum ministry pertaining to the petroleum prices, after raising criticisms over it, DawnNews reported.
The cabinet division criticised that the summary did not include recommendations by the petroleum ministry. Adding that, it said that the ministry should recommend that how often the petroleum prices should be revised.
Moreover, it said that according to the rules of the business, the petroleum ministry was obliged to present its recommendation in this regard.
The cabinet division also said that the weekly-revision of the petroleum prices was supported by the ministry and the summary only included National Assembly’s resolution and recommendations of the standing committee.
The cabinet division said that it would forward the summary to the ECC after inclusion of the recommendations by the petroleum ministry.
Speaking to media representatives earlier today, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim Hussain said that the summary of petroleum prices had been forwarded to the ECC which would, after analysis, decide how often should petroleum prices be revised.
