A RELATIVE of mine, who was 65 years old, was killed by unknown men at Gulshan Chowrangi, Karachi.
He was in his car with his family when two teenage pillion-riders stopped him and demanded his mobile phone and wrist-watch.
He immediately gave the mobile phone to the criminals but it took about a minute in giving away his wrist-watch. This angered the criminals who shot him and ran away.
The ugly incident has taken the life of an innocent man. His wife and children are in deep shock and they know that there would be no investigation and the murderers would never be caught.
However, the next day newspapers carried the report of his death. How unfortunate that the report quoted the police as saying that a 50-year-old man was killed by unknown men when he was eating a burger with his friend.
It is not surprising that the police even did not know what he was doing, what was his age and even his father’s name was not correct.
When the police do not know that how the incident happened, then how can they investigate?
It is time the Sindh police were revamped as they have been politicised and most police officials have got jobs by using illegal means.
