MANSEHRA, Oct 26: Commuters and transporters on Friday suffered a lot due to closure of most CNG stations here.

The closure of CNG stations came after Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) slashed CNG price by around Rs30 per kg in line with a Supreme Court order.

Long queues of vehicles were seen outside CNG stations but most of them refused to provided them with CNG on the pretext of low pressure.

Some CNG stations remained open but they sold gas at previous rate.

The people, who were on the way to native villages and towns to celebrate Eidul Azha, were stressed out due to closure of CNG stations.

“I have to go to hometown Balakot to celebrate Eid but have been stuck here with family for two hours. Machine operators are claiming that gas pressure is very low and therefore, they can’t offer CNG,” said a motorist at a Shinkiari Road CNG station.

REDUCTION IN ANIMAL PRICES: Prices of sacrificial animals dropped at cattle market here on the day before Eidul Azha on Friday.

Buyers and sellers were seen on the market in large numbers throughout the day.

Visitor Mohammad Adnan said animals were selling at high price yesterday but their prices dropped on Friday.

“It’s a pleasant surprise for me as I can now buy a good animal to perform the ritual of qurbani (slaughtering),” he said.

Vendor Mohammad Arshad said prices of animals were reasonable. He said had the district administration not banned their transportation, prices of sacrificial animals in the district would have been much higher.

“I wanted to take my cattle and sheep out of the district for better profits but couldn’t do so due to the presence of police checkposts,” he said.
