MANSEHRA, Oct 24: The provincial health department in compliance with Peshawar High Court’s ruling has constituted a vigilance committee to monitor performance of hospitals and provision of better health services to people in the district.

The committee, headed by District Coordination Officer Dr Amber Ali Khan, has eight members including district executive officer (health), district police officer, district controller food, president of Mansehra District Bar Association, president of TV Journalists Association, president of Mansehra Press Club, district Khateeb and Advocate Aurangzeb Asad.

The committee will pay surprise visits, particularly at nighttime, to all hospitals to check the services being provided to patients and presence of medical officers and paramedics.“The committee will report to director general health and registrar of PHC directly for prompt action in case of absence of staff and deficiencies in the hospitals,” said a letter issued by the secretary health about the activities of the committee.

The committee has been constituted in compliance with the suo motu notice of PHC Chief Justice Dost Mohammad Khan. It would also report its activities to heath secretary and PHC registrar after every two weeks.

ANNIVERSARY: The local chapter of labour wing of Pakistan People’s Party observed the first death anniversary of party’s former chairperson Begum Nusrat Bhutto here on Wednesday.

The members of PPP labour wing from across the district attended the anniversary and paid homage to Begum Bhutto.

Speaking on the occasion, district president of PPP labour wing Mohammad Fareed and others said that democratic process in the country was the outcome of the sacrifices rendered by the Bhutto family, particularly Begum Nusrat Bhutto.

They said that Nusart Bhutto was a brave leader and stood firm against the Ziaul Haq’s marshal law. She proved that followers of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto would render sacrifices but they would never bow down before the tyrants.

On the occasion, Quran Khwani was held and special prayers were offered for the deported soul of Nusrat Bhutto.
