KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Wednesday expressed concern on attempts to bar dual nationals from holding top government offices after imposing a similar bar on the members of the parliament.

He said that a conspiracy was being hatched to weaken Pakistan by imposing such restrictions that would only serve to reduce the number of people loyal to the country.

He said that the overseas Pakistanis were greatly distressed on the issue of the dual nationality.

Hussain said the logic behind isolating overseas Pakistanis, who send billions of dollars to the country for supporting its economy, was simply beyond comprehension.

The MQM chief said the masses would have to stand up for saving the country. Angels would not descend from heaven to improve the situation, he added.
