ISLAMABAD: The first ever National Voter's Day was being held today nationwide with various events scheduled to be held at the central, provincial and district offices of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), DawnNews reported.

The aim of the National Voter's Day is to spread awareness amongst citizens about the importance of voting.

The ECP organised numerous events at their offices and banners were also put up at many locations across the country.

Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) also organised seminars pertaining to the occasion.

One event was held at the Supreme Court where an example of the vote verification process was demonstrated by authenticate the Chief Justice of Pakistan’s vote through an SMS message.

The chief justice was also informed that his vote was registered in Quetta, to which he replied that he would vote in Quetta.
