QUETTA, Oct 11: At least 14 people were killed and 28 others injured in two blasts, one in Sibi and the other in Dera Bugti, on Thursday.

According to police, 11 people were killed and 26 injured when a powerful bomb strapped to a motorbike exploded near a restaurant on Nishtar Road in Sibi.

The injured were admitted to the local civil hospital and combined military hospital where four of them were in critical condition.

Police said the 15kg explosive device damaged 12 shops and five vehicles.

Police carried out some raids to arrest the attackers.

The victims included Khaliqdad, Meharullah, Nadir Ali, Souba, Nadeem Ahmed, Haidar Ali, Rahim Shah, Syed Amir Shah and Nadir.

In Dera Bugti district, three security personnel were killed and two severely injured when their vehicle struck a landmine in Maro area.

Meanwhile, men on a motorbike shot dead a policeman, Malik Abbas, on Sariab Road near Quetta.

Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani condemned the explosions and offered condolences to bereaved families.
